Kiss and Cake Up was set up because of the lack of birthday and celebration cakes available to boarders in my school. It was very difficult to get personalised birthday cakes, especially if your parents lived abroad. It is so much nicer to receive a cake that has been baked especially for you rather than a generic super market cake. Many parents also found it comforting to know that they could order a special cake for their child’s birthday that would still make the day special even if they couldn’t be there.
